Anyone who cares to checks this up in a textbook on the endocrine (hormonal) system, will immediately know the following: the first effect of every hormone is to produce its antidote. The term for this is "negative feedback".
And every person's hypothalamus (a nuts-size organ deep inside the brain that functions as a hormonal regulator) has its own, genetically encoded ideas on what appropriate levels of each hormone, including testosterone and dihydrotestosterone, should be.
When athletes consume small amounts of testosterone or anabolic steroids, they'll not affect higher net levels of testosterone. What will likely happen is: first the body will cease its own production of testosterone (leading to testicular athtophy = balls as small as marbles, penises the size of matchsticks... not quite that small, but not much bigger than the size of cigarettes). Then, the hypothalamus will have every weapon in its arsenal kick in to counteract testosterone levels it considers too high.
Do you know, testosterone in high dosages has been found effective as, guess what? Well, A male anti baby pill, haha. It works because exogenous testosterone in supernatural dosages awakens so many counter-mechanisms that sperm grade is strongly compromised.
Tongkat ali is not a testosterone, not even a testosterone agonist. According to animal studies, it causes testicular and penile growth. And that, the tongkat ali should somehow signal the hypothalamus that the testicles must produce additional testosterone because there is not enough around.
And what happens next? The additional testosterone will create much more antidotes to circulate as well.
But there's more. Tongkat ali is a compounded blend of pythochemicals. And the hormonal system is not as quick as the nervous system. To create hormonal homeostasis (the hormonal balance the hypothalamus is genetically programmed to aim for) consumes hours, or even days.
So, you'll see that hormonal levels, when they're brought out of their sleepy balance, will vary in a wavelike manner.
You signal the hypothalamus through tongkat ali that testosterone levels are too low. So the testicles produce more testosterone... likely overshooting the homeostatic target. So the hypothalamus counteracts by generating antidotes.
But the tongkat ali goes out from the system via the kidneys and liver. And so the antidotes are on extremely high a level.
So then, the hypothalamus commands the testicles: Man, we need more testosterone.
And so on, "auf und nieder, immer wieder" (for those who do not speak German, up and down, time and again)
I've been receiving reader mail on tongkat ali for ten years. Until now, there's someone who tells me he recently got the superb sex ever... during a tongkat ali off-cycle. How's that possible... I know it, and if you have read this article until here, you know, too.
A person who gets his sexual strike during an off-cycle will surely have a long hypothalamic response time. With the tongkat ali, he has provoked a hormonal anti-tongkat ali reaction, and that, in turn, has provoked testicular over-productivity.
The most of people feel the testosterone push during on-cycles, but a minority experiences it during off-cycles.
Other way, tongkat ali is in charge for the psychological and physiological profits of youthful testosterone levels.
Since the only thing that hooks aging people of the pleasures of life, and lead to accelerated aging, is dormant testosterone production, leading to homeostasis on a low level.
For hormones tangled with sexuality, tongkat ali is like an alarm clock. It disturbs the sexual serenity which is but a prelude to death.
